Instead of, um, anything else he did afterward, Warren Ellis should have been forced to do NEXTWAVE: AGENTS OF H.A.T.E. until he died. Except that he shouldn’t have, because it would have become watered down. But! I still think the tenth issue with its heroes-thrown-into-alternate-worlds pastiche was one of the best comics I have ever read. Immonen’s Paul Pope impression and the revamp of Captain Marvel that Ellis wrote for single-handedly one of the most inspiring pieces of art I have had the pleasure of taking in.
