A friend on Facebook was complaining about how the phonebook continues to be delivered even though nobody she knows uses a phonebook; I responded by googling for ten actual seconds to find a place on the Yellow Pages site to opt out of the service (she thanked me for doing so). Then two of her friends responded—one to ask but surely there’s an opt-out option somewhere and the other to say that Vancouverites should en masse drop their phonebooks off at the head office to make some kind of protest about the number of trees used in production?
