That awkward moment when you have to use magic to prevent yourself from throwing John Constantine a sympathy fuck.
This was enjoyable, and concludes the first arc after all the strange pacing that probably comes from too many characters. I liked it. It gave me a nice jolt seeing (1) Zatanna and Shade in the same space! and (2) Zatanna totally kissing Shade to get his head back into the game. I never in a million years would have ever expected to see those two characters—two of my hands down favourites—in the same book, let alone having a saucy moment. It’s like a very specific form of fan service just for me.
I still don’t get why the fuck I’m supposed to care about Mindwarp, though.
I have to go back out tonight, and it’s cold and I’d rather hide under a blanket. If only I could say something backwards and teleport.
This should be a print. Iād buy it in a heat beat.
Been posted before, but Cliff Chiang’s Justice Runaways remains a glorious piece.
The first issue of the new Zatanna series came out today. It was fun, felt similar in tone to her Seven Soldiers miniseries—which was nice, as that had been meant as, essentially, a pitch for an ongoing. It’s still getting going but it was a decent beginning, and I liked the art more than I expected to. Paul Dini managed to pull out some old pets without making it feel awkward or hackneyed.
